President’s Day Programs!
In honor of President’s Day…

“PLAIN MR. PRESIDENT”
It is a beautiful April day in 1789, and the four million citizens of the United States of America are preparing for their very first national holiday. These brand new citizens of a brand new nation are lined up along the great “Post Road” from Mount Vernon to New York, gathered in cheerful, excited groups… winding garlands of flowers on bridges and lampposts, toasting the future, and eagerly waiting to see General George Washington pass by in his carriage on his way to be inaugurated the first president of the United States of America.
But amidst all the cheers and rejoicing, only one figure seems glum and thoughtful, with the whole weight of the world resting on his shoulders… and that is Washington himself. A lot can go through a man’s mind as he travels on a date with destiny. Listen to this great story of that first Inaugural Day, as originally presented on The Cavalcade of America, in 1941.
