Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield

Our Program of the week: DAVID COPPERFIELD by Charles Dickens!
Charles John Huffam Dickens (1812 – 1870), pen-name “Boz”, was an English novelist. During his career Dickens achieved massive worldwide popularity, winning acclaim for his rich storytelling and memorable characters. Considered one of the English language’s greatest writers, he was the foremost novelist of the Victorian era as well as a vigorous social campaigner. The popularity of his novels and short stories during his lifetime and to the present is demonstrated by the fact that none have ever gone out of print. One his most popular books is this week’s story, “David Copperfield”, first published in 1850, originally appeared in serial form (published in monthly installments).
Many elements within the novel follow events in Dickens’ own life, and it is probably the most autobiographical of all of his novels. It was also Dickens’ “favourite child” — ie. his favorite book. This great hour-long radio version of Charles Dickens’ classic book, David Copperfield stars Boris Karloff with a great performance as the wicked Micawber. It was originally broadcast on The Theater Guild on the Air, December 23rd, 1950.

Dear Jim,
Where is David Copperfield linked? I must have missed itr somewhere, but keep on getting through to the wrong program. Is it me or is there a problem with the links? I would love to get this downloaded. By the way, is there a Dickens collection available, or have you got one planned? It would be terrific! Thanks so much for everything. Happy New Year, Gill.
