Benjamin Franklin’s Whistle, Jack & the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots!

Dear Friends,
Well, we take a break here between holiday and family get-togethers to bring you this week’s “Living Books for the Ears” programs! We’ve got three delightful programs for you this week, so hopefully you’ll have time to pause amidst all your holiday activities to enjoy these:
First up, Benjamin Franklin’s “Story of the Whistle”, a great true story about Franklin when he was just a little 7 year old boy with a pocket full of pennies. You’ll love this story, and will want to read Franklin’s own “follow up” on it (which we link you to) which even better explains the meaning of the story for him… and for us.
Next, TWO great tellings of the Grimm Brothers fairy tales, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Puss in Boots”, by none other than the Great Gildersleeve (Harold Peary). These are wonderful, fun retellings of these stories, but take heed… they are faithful to the originals, so neither the giant nor the ogre make it through these tales intact, if you know what I mean.
